Welcome to the Rift Gallery website.

Rift Gallery is located in Rinconada, New Mexico, on the main road joining Santa Fe and Taos,
2249 Highway 68 (just north of the 22 mile marker).

Owned by two artists, the gallery represents exceptional artists working in a wide range of media. Off the beaten track, yet right on the highway, Rift Gallery offers visitors a chance to enjoy great art - ceramics, sculpture, photography, painting, and mixed media work - in a spectacular setting along the Rio Grande rift valley.

During temperate months, the gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 to 5. Off-season hours may vary slightly.

For winter hours and additional information, please call (505) 579-9179 or (575) 770-4945.

Adjacent to the gallery is Southwest Stoneworks, specializing in the sale of carving tools and a wide variety of stone. Each summer, Southwest Stoneworks hosts annual workshops in stonecarving.

GALLERY ARTISTS

Gallery co-owner, Mark Saxe, is a stone sculptor, and speaking of his art says, "My work expresses my love, commitment, and relationship with stone. The forms I create are the result of experience, contemplation, intuition, and chance. The methods and techniques I use reflect the forces in nature." Mark is also represented in Santa Fe by LewAllen Contemporary in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Betsy Williams is Mark's wife and business partner. She is a full-time ceramist and the gallery director.

Kazutaka Uchida, guest artist at our annual stonecarving workshops, brings his exquisite Japanese aesthetic and 40 years of carving experience to bear as he unlocks the inner beauty of the stone. He is also represented in Santa Fe by LewAllen Contemporary.

Mare Martin, one of our new gallery artists, lives and works in Louisiana. Present in Mare's work is an almost palpable energy, like the bursting buds of spring.

Ebby Malmgren is a print maker, potter and writer living in Annapolis, Maryland. Her abstract work continues to mingle oceans and beaches, bays, rivers, creeks, marshland and Eastern woods with mid-continent prairies and the mountains, high mesas, deserts, pueblos, clouds, chamisa and sage of the West.

Michele Burgess and her husband own Brighton Press in San Diego, California, producing limited edition artist books. (For info: www.ebrightonarts.com.) At the gallery we have just received several of her new etchings, and they simply must be seen in person to be appreciated.

Rift Gallery is proud to represent these artists. Come by and see the gallery in person. There's always free parking and a friendly face, and we're conveniently located between Santa Fe and Taos.
